This site is dedicated to helping you find the best locksmith services available. It can be difficult to find a locksmith you trust – there are many people scamming the public. Thankfully, there are a few things you can do to ensure that you’re choosing one that is legitimate, and will provide service you can trust. Here are a few steps to choosing the best locksmith. Make sure you do your research, and you’re much less likely to get scammed.

1. Online Search

Do an online search. Search for a locksmith in your area, and visit their website. Do they look legitimate? Do they offer reviews on their site? Do they link to their BBB profile? Do they link to their off-site reviews?

2. Google Them

Search for the company directly. Look to see if their reviews come up. Do they have a Better Business Bureau listing? Do they respond to reviews? Do they have a social media account with reviews? Reviews offer a great insight into whether or not a locksmith is legitimate or not.

3. Licensing

Look to see if locksmiths need to be licensed in your state. If they do, then check to see if the one you are interested in is listed, or whether or not their license is expired. If they aren’t listed and your state requires it – they’re not legitimate.

The main thing is: Go with your gut. If you have a bad feeling about a locksmith, then don’t give them a call. After doing your research, you’ll likely have some insight into whether or not they are a scam or not.

A Common Locksmith Scam

One of the most common locksmith scams is to quote a price online, and then charge extra once they arrive. You’re in a bad spot at that point, and are more likely to just pay to get the work done. Don’t hire a locksmith who won’t give you a price over the phone. They should have a standard price for car lockouts, home lockouts, making keys, or for auto keys. If they don’t, ask them why not. Their answer will provide a lot of information.
